Brilliantly entertaining for all adults - not for minors

We're all aware that by rights Ozzy should be dead by now and it truly is a mystery how he is still breathing, but thank God he is. The other mystery is why he has become such a national treasure? This book is brilliantly open and revealing, frank and honest, confessional, and I think people like that. You can hear Ozzy's voice in the writing and oh he's been a naughty boy over the years but even at his peak he still somehow manages to come across as the underdog, and we all like to root for the underdog. His sense of humour and his optimism, especially in the early days simply wins you over and my heart went out to the kid in the pyjama top with no shoes and a tap (or faucet) on a piece of string hanging round his neck! To not like Ozzy would be like kicking a puppy and even despite his undoubtedly dangerous behaviour I for one; and it would seem for many others too, can't help but like him. The stories and respect from hard drinking, fast living rock star peers tells you he is the real deal, but his background tells you of a kid who 'done good' and somehow you don't feel like you can begrudge him that. He has some regrets but makes no apologies, he just tells his story in his own words, which are surprisingly warm.
A loveable rogue? That wild Uncle we all avoid but whose outrageous lifestyle we secretly love to boast about? Dangerous? Or just the fun guy with an addictively adventurous outlook on life? Whatever you think of Ozzy Osbourne, he's certainly a force of nature and this book provides a real insight into a world so many of us think we know about but few have experienced. A living legend - by the skin of his teeth!

Easily the funniest autobiography I've ever read from start to finish I was in stitches. A very honest and open account by Ozzy about his life, and my god what a life he's lived, a must read for anyone wether you're a fan or not.

Like many other people reviewing this book, I'm fanatical of both Black Sabbath and Ozzy, and I believe they created some of the most wonderful and powerful music in Rock, the first six Black Sabbath albums being quite simply the Old Testament of Heavy Metal. Obviously, I read this book with great antecipation, but I have to say that all in all I was disapointed. 'I Am Ozzy' is genuinly funny, mostly opened and frank, and I had a lot of loud laughs, as Ozzy is the personification of crazyness and r'n'r excess, and his life story is trully unbelievable. However, after a while, the constant drug and alcohol excesses become tiresome, revealing a too egotistical and shallow human being, capable of atrocities against animals, and a brainless and reckless behaviour that shows little concern towards the people he is supposed to love the most. A few times he is called by people he enraged 'an animal', and saddly the reader has the discomfortable feeling that the thing isn't funny anymore and this accusation somehow rings true. I incondionally love his solo albums, some of them trully Metal masterpieces, so I find it awkward and difficult to connect the fabulous interpreter (and partially creator) of this music with the man portraited in the book.
Other problem that I have with 'I Am Ozzy' is that it barely speaks of the music, opting again and again for the endless descriptions of alcohol and drug stupors, wich actually make it very dificult to believe that the man is still alive and kicking. There are also other chapters in his story that are completely missing, like his former drummer Randy Castillo, others are too biased, like the reference to Ronnie James Dio, and a fantastic album like 'No Rest For the Wicked' isn't even mentioned...

All in all, a light and fun reading, but there are too many things lacking, and I'm sorry to say that, although I'll forever be a fan of the music in wich he was envolved, my admiration for him as a man has diminished a lot, because the reader is left with the feeling that Ozzy comes across this book as a fool jester with un unbelievable luck. Wich I have to say I don't believe, because he is a terrific singer and a wonderful musician, so it's a shame that Ozzy choosed to write only about his wild side, instead of enlightning the positive sides of his life and career.

What a cracking story! I was literally laughing out loud at various stages through this book... much to my daughter's embarrassment as we lay on a beach in Dubai. It's hard to pick out moments, there are so many. Utterly brilliant, epic stories, very very funny. I have re-read this book already and its just as good the second time.

Have read loads of stories by rockers, most just focus on drugs and sex. This is proper storytelling. Absolutely magic.

If you’re a fan, this is the best read in a long time.
I laughed, cried and I believe everything that’s written in this book. I feel there’s more that Ozzy could go into detail with, but that’s maybe another book
Instead of writing & performing as the Prince of Darkness, we need to find the ‘One’ who can make him King !

One of the most entertaining books I've ever read. Punch the floor gasping for breath funny. The time he met Brian Wilson made me actually wet myself. Amazing life story, and truly touching at times.

Not a massive Black Sabbath fan, I now am, this is a great insight into this complex maniac genius.Sharon emerges as a clever and vulnerable person who stuck by Ozzy through dark and disasterous times.From his childhood in aston through the crazy train of decades this book made me laugh , learn and understand a little more about addictive personality, dyslexia and attention disorders.
There is no malice toward anyone really , except a couple of references to celebs that take themself too seriously er Ozzy never.I dont want to get too philosophical however reading about legends and their inner troubles makes me feel better for doing so.Its an easy read and I believe theres a follow up book due out.The house hunting story has made a lot of people laugh believe me man.....

Great great book,very enjoyable. I discovered a lot about Ozzy, things that made me love him even more than before. He definitely has the funniest stories in the business, this guy saw it all. The book is very well written ad enjoyable. Absolutely recommended

I really loved this book, its one of those books that you just can't put down.

Its packed with laughs, sadness, heartbreak and all the ups & downs that you would probably expect from Ozzy but when all is said & done you come to understand the real Ozzy and how much of a caring person he is.

For many years Ozzy's life was controlled by drink & drugs which led him to lose his first wife & kids and almost cost him the life of his second wife Sharon, not to mention his own on numerous occasions, how on earth the man is still alive is a miracle..!!

I strongly recommend this book, its a fantastic read, one of the best autobiographys I have read.
